Mit Wirkung zum 10. Dezember 2011 ist die Verwendung und das in den Verkehr bringen von Hartloten mit einem Cadmiumanteil von > 0.01 Gew.-% in der EU verboten
Eventuell noch in Gebrauch oder Besitz befindliche cadmiumhaltige Hartlote dürfen nicht mehr zum Löten eingesetzt werden. Zudem ist auch die Lagerung und Verarbeitung dieser Hartlote per Verordnung untersagt. Darüber hinaus ist die Produktion cadmiumhaltiger Hartlote ab diesem Zeitpunkt in der EU nicht mehr erlaubt.
